Type locality. West Coast of South Island.

Type material examined. 1 ex. Syntype ( NHM): card-mounted, “ Cyphotelus angus- \ tifrons\ Type \ D.S. \ New Zealand, West coast \ Wakefield” [written at base of card in Sharp’s hand], “ Type \ H. T.” [round label with red margin], “ New Zealand. [red underline]”, “Sharp Coll. \ 1905-313.”

Remarks. Sharp studied two specimens collected on the west coast of the South Island by Wakefield (Sharp 1878).
