Type locality. Waitakerei [sic, Waitakere] Range, Mount Manaia.

Broun number: 3068.

Type material examined. 2 exx. Syntype (NHM): card-mounted, “ Cyphanus \ maculifer .” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broum Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “Waitakerei \ Range.”, “3068.” [in Broun’s hand], “SYNTYPE” [round label with blue margin]. Syntype (NHM): “ Cyphanus \ maculifer .” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broum Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “Mount \ Manaia.”, “3068.” [in Broun’s hand], “SYNTYPE" [round label with blue margin].

Remarks. Broun studied two specimens: from Waitakerei Range and Mount Manaia near Whangarei (Broun 1910).
