Distribution and remarks: circumglobal. Atlantic Ocean: scattered records from Iceland to the tropical region; Off Saldanha, South Africa, being found primarily between 40 oN and 40 oS. Eastern central Atlantic: occurs from Mauritania to Angola, including the Cape Verde and Gulf of Guinea Islands. Two records for Gabon under the name C. signata alba : MNHN 1962-0592/593.
