Range:— Greater Antilles; southern Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, PA, SC) and Amazonian Brazil.
Ecology:— Common; terrestrial in humid forests, especially along streams; to 500 m, to 850 m elsewhere. The gametophytes are among the more drought-resistant ones among tropical lowland ferns ( Watkins et al. 2007). Ash of Cyclopeltis is used to treat burns by the Teribe Indians in Panama ( Gupta et al. 2005).
