Type Locality: Zambia, Southern Prov., Kafue National Park, "hot springs" in Itezhi-Tezhi.

Vernacular Names: Kafue Mole-rat.

Distribution: Vicinity of Itezhi-Tezhi, S Zambia.

Discussion: Protein electrophoretic data ( Filippucci et al., 1997) suggest affinity with anselli and mechowi . Karyotype with a 2n=58 and FN=78 ( Burda et al., 1999).
