( Figures 30–33 View FIGURES 26–33 )

Cryptobias ocellatus Dohrn, 1879: 459 View in CoL ; Monné, 2018a: 879 (cat.; in syn.). According to Dohrn (1879) (translated): “Apart from the general statement: Brazil, I cannot comment on the country of origin, since it comes from a curiosity merchant, who for many years roamed the great empire.” Monné & Giesbert (1992) reported: “The holotype of Cryptobias ocellatus Dohrn 1879:459 View in CoL is a composite specimen, with the head of Chydarteres dimidiatus dimidiatus (Fabricius, 1787) View in CoL and the body of Cryptobias coccineus Dupont, 1834 View in CoL .” Apparently, the source of this information was Ubirajara R. Martins de Souza, who examined the holotype and added a label with this information ( Fig. 21 View FIGURES 17–25 ).

Monné (2018a) and Tavakilian & Chevillotte (2018) reported the holotype being deposited in the CMSP collection. Actually, it is in the ZMPA collection.
