Holotype: ZIN 7799 View Materials , Uzbekistan, Ugam River , tributary of Chirchik River, Syrdarya River system, 1886, collected by V. F. Oshanin.
Current status: Cottus jaxartensis Berg, 1916 ( Turdakov, 1959; Sideleva, 2021).
Counts: D1 8, D2 18, A 13, P 13, V 4, C 26, vert. 33 (abdominal 11, caudal 22), three-pairs of pleural ribs.
Diagnosis: small bony prickles under pectoral fin; caudal peduncle length 1.5–2.0 times more than depth; upper surface of head is covered with skin bumps; interorbital distance narrow, 1.4–1.5 times less than eye diameter; pelvic fin is long, reaching anus.
Proportional measurements as percentages of standard length (100.6 mm): predorsal length 30.2, preanal length 51.6, length of caudal peduncle 16.6, depth of caudal peduncle 6.7, length of first dorsal-fin base 22.0, length of second dorsal-fin base 40.0, length of longest anal-fin base 32.2, length of longest first dorsal-fin 12.9, length of longest second dorsal-fin ray 14.1, length of longest anal-fin ray 14.6, pectoral-fin length 27.8, pelvic-fin length 20.7, head length 29.7, postorbital length 14.1, head depth 16.1, head width 21.3, eye horizontal diameter 5.6, snout length 11.0, interbranchial width 4.1, upper jaw length 11.3, interbranchial width 7.2, length of gill slit 15.7.
