Auxemma glazioviana ( Taubert 1892: 11) .

Trees, ca. 7 m tall; branches glabrous, with whitish to pale brown lenticels. Leaves alternate, homomorphic; blades 3.7–15.5 × 2–7.6 cm, subchartaceous to chartaceous, obovate-oblong to obovate-lanceolate, scabrous, adaxially glabrous to pubescent, abaxially pubescent to puberulent, apex orbicular, acute or subretuse or apiculate, margin entire, base obtuse; venation brochidodromous; petiole 0.4-1.6 cm long, sulcate, pubescent. Inflorescences 7.5–18 cm long, terminal and axillary, paniculiform; peduncle 2–8 cm long. Flowers 0.9–1.3 cm long, dystilous, pedicellate; pedicel 7–14 mm long; calyx 4–6 mm long, narrowly obcampanulate, lobes 1.8–2.5 × ca. 3 mm, lanceolate to suborbiculate, apex acute; corolla 1.1–1.2 cm long, infundibuliform, white, pubescent externally, throat villous internally, lobes 3–4 × 5–6 mm long, obovate to suborbiculate. Short-styled flowers: stamens with filaments ca. 5.5 mm long; anthers ca. 1 mm long, oblong; ovary ca. 1.8 mm long, narrowly ovate; style ca. 2 mm long. Long-styled flowers: stamens with filaments ca. 4.2 mm long, presenting trichomes basal on the lower third of the corolla; anthers ca. 1.7 mm long, oblong; ovary ca. 2.5 mm long, narrowly ovate; style ca. 5 mm long with trichomes. Drupe 1.1–2 cm long, elliptic, rostrate, villous; calyx 2–3.5 cm long, accrescent; seed 1.

Notes:— Similar morphologically to C. oncocalyx and recognized mainly by the paniculiform inflorescences, calyx in fruit ca. 3.5 cm long, and elliptic, rostrate, and villous fruit. This species is being completely illustrated for the first time in this study.

Geographic distribution:— Occurs in the states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, and Bahia ( Flora do Brasil 2020 under construction). B1, B2, B3, C2, C3, C7.

Habitat:— Caatinga.

Phenology:— Collected in flower from April to August and in October; in fruit in May, June, and August.
