I (Heft 42): 96 (1910).— Cnidoscolus hypoleucus (Pax) Pax ex Fern.Casas, Fontqueria View in CoL 55: 71 (2002), comb. superfl. (see under C. acrandrus for discussion). Type:— PERU.Amazonas: Stony outcrops, Tupen, 800 m, 1905, A. Weberbauer 4797 (holotype B destroyed (Field Museum Berlin Negative # 5392!); isotype F [a fragment removed from the holotype and consisting only of a leaf and a small piece of what might be a flower]).

Distribution:— Peru (microendemic).

Notes:— León, Riina & Berry (2006) report that no other collections are known except for the type. As mentioned above, the holotype is no longer extant. We are hesitant to designate the fragment at F as lectotype because it consists of only a juvenile leaf and a portion of a staminate flower.
