ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 42 (key), 44 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in ditionis parmensis collibus [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 specimen, syntype (sex not determinable, covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 9): Cnephalia Rndn. / fuscisquama Rnd. , ♂ / 477.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Spallanzania multisetosa (Rondani, 1859) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 262) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 44) described Cnephalia fuscisquama from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Maris … Semel captus [Male … Collected once]”. Herting (1969: 195) reported a single specimen in the MZUF. We also found one syntype in this study.
