Discussion

From the description and detailed drawings provided by Kozánek & Kwon (1991a: 161 f, Figs 4A–H View FIGURE 4 ), which allows a secure determination of the species, the idea arose to test the possibility that E. koreanus actually should be placed within the limits of the genus Claraeola . The study of the holotype, the only specimen known so far, revealed that the taxon indeed shows a distinct tendency towards Claraeola , although lacking some characteristics mentioned in Skevington & Yeates (2001). The following characters support the treatment of Eudorylas koreanus Kozánek & Kwon, 1991 as a species of Claraeola ( Cla. koreana (Kozánek & Kwon, 1991) comb. nov.):

General aspect of antenna with its pointed flagellum (not tapering) and long upper and lower bristles of pedicel.

Length of third costal segment clearly superior to length of fourth costal segment by approximately 2.1.

Pro and mesotibiae without any distal spines.

Tergite 1 and 2 laterally with fine longer hairs (missing on rest of abdomen).

Simple and rather symmetrical shaped surstyli.

Phallic guide narrow, distally deflected by almost 90°.

Phallus with short ejaculatory ducts and with distinct bristles present on its membranous base (instead of specialized scales or teeth), similar to the European species Claraeola agnosta Kehlmaier, 2005 .

Ejaculatory apodeme linear.

Due to the transfer of Eudorylas koreanus Kozánek & Kwon, 1991 to Claraeola , the species Claraeola koreana Skevington, 2001 is in need of a new name ( Claraeola koreana Skevington, 2001: 435 (nom. nov. for Moriparia nigripennis Kozánek & Kwon, 1991b: 81 ) [Preocc. Hardy, 1949]). Hence, the name Claraeola paektusana Kehlmaier nom. nov. is proposed. The new epithet refers to Mount Paektusan, locus typicus of Cla. paektusana .
