Cheilanthes micropteris Sw., Syn. Fil. View in CoL 126, 324, t. 3, fig. 5. 1806.

Range: —Central Bolivia ( CH, CO) to central Argentina and eastward to southern Brazil and Uruguay.

Ecology: —Rare; terrestrial and saxicolous in rocky habitats in semiarid regions; 2100–3000 m.

Notes: —Differs from commoner Cheilanthes pruinata by its 1-pinnate to 1-pinnate-pinnatifid blades, pale orange-brown, flaccid rhizome scales, and numerous small, gland-tipped hairs on the adaxial blade surfaces. This species has generally been considered the lectotype of Cheilanthes (PPG I 2016) .
