1. Eltroplectris cogniauxiana (Schltr.) Pabst (1974: 469) View in CoL ≡ Centrogenium cogniauxianum Schlechter (1920: 452) ≡ Pelexia longicornu var. minor Cogniaux (1904 –1906: 533) ≡ Ochyrella cogniauxiana (Schltr.) Szlachetko & Rutkowski (2008: 166) . Lectotype (designated here):– BRAZIL. Goiás, “ Fazenda do Lambary ”, 28 January 1895, Glaziou 22154 (BR [online image!]; isolectotypes G [online image!], K [online image!], P [online image!]).
Notes: ― Szlachetko & Rutkowski (2008: 166) indicated the specimen Schwarzmaier 32793 (BR), collected in August 1936, as the lectotype. However, this proposal is untenable because this specimen was not cited in the protologue and there is no evidence that Cogniaux examined this specimen. According to Article 9.19 of the International Code of Nomenclature ( Turland et al. 2018): “The author who first designates (Art. 7.10, 7.11, and F.5.4) a lectotype or a neotype … must be followed, but… the choice may also be superseded if it can be shown that… (c) it is in serious conflict with the protologue, in which case an element that is not in conflict with the protologue is to be chosen”. Thus, we designate here another specimen as lectotype.
