Centris fuscata Lepeletier, 1841 View in CoL . 167, 168.
( Figures 13–14 View FIGURES 11–14 )
Type data: Lepeletier (1841) did not mention how many males he used to describe this species. A single male studied by him was found at MHNP being here designated as the lectotype. The specimen has the following data label: fuscata [handwritten]\ [circular label] du nord de la Capite de St Paul [handwritten]\ Type Lepelletier [handwritten]\ Type [printed in red ink]\ Museum Paris nord de la Capit de St Paul [printed]\ Centris bimaculata Lep. ♂ [handwrit- ten] det. Friese 1898 [printed]\ type fuscata [handwritten]\ Museum Paris EY0000003591 [printed] ( MNHP).
Type locality: Brazil: São Paulo state .
Comments: No additional specimens labelled with the names cited above were found at MNHP or OUMNH. The lectotypes are in relatively good condition, but both are dirty with plaster. Taxonomic decision for synonymy: Moure (1943).
This species has been recorded from Mexico to Argentina ( Roig-Alsina, 2000; Moure et al., 2007). However, its distribution range is restricted to Brazil (unpubl. data).
No known copyright restrictions apply. See Agosti, D., Egloff, W., 2009. Taxonomic information exchange and copyright: the Plazi approach. BMC Research Notes 2009, 2:53 for further explanation.
