Type data: This species was proposed based on two females collected in an undetermined locality in Venezuela. Both syntypes are housed at ZMB being here designated the lectotype the one in better condition. The specimen has the following data label: [green label] Venezuela Apipruda [?] [handwritten]\ Centris flavothorax n. sp. ♀ [handwritten] det. Friese 1898 [printed]\ [red label with black rim] Type [printed]\ 1667 [printed]\ [white label with red lateral margins] LECTOTYPE [printed] Centris flavothoracica Friese, 1899 ♀ [handwritten] desig. Melo 2010 [printed] ( ZMB) . Paralectotype with the following data label: Centris flavothorax ♀ [handwritten] det. Friese 1898 [printed]\ [red label with black rim] Type [printed]\ [white label with yellow lateral margins] PARALECTOTYPE [printed] Centris flavothoracica Friese, 1899 ♀ [handwritten] desig. Melo 2010 [printed] ( ZMB) .

Type locality: Venezuela .

Comment: The type locality cannot be further narrowed down than to Venezuela, but probably it was collected in a mountainous area .
