Recognition. Linogeraeus laevirostris is a large-sized, 4.4–5.8 mm long species with indistinctly vittate elytra ( Fig. 41 ). Some species in Centrinites Casey and Centrinopus Casey have a similar color pattern, but are much smaller and have mandibles with a secondary tooth.

Distribution. The species has been found in the Great Plains ( Fig. 78 ).

Type locality. Missouri .

Material examined. United States: Colorado ( CWOB 1 , MCZ 1 ) , Indiana ( CWOB 1 ) , Iowa ( USNM 14 ) , Kansas ( CWOB 5 , USNM 1 ) , Louisiana ( TAMU 1 ) , Missouri ( CWOB 7 , MCZ 1 , TAMU 1 ) , Nebraska ( CWOB 2 , UNSM 4 , USNM 2 ) , Oklahoma ( USNM 1 ) , Texas ( TAMU 28 ) . Total 71 specimens.

Temporal occurrence. May to June.

Plant associations. Unknown.
