Cecidomyia (Diplosis) condigna Skuse, 1888: 85 .

Material studied. Syntypes, two males, “ Elizabeth Bay (Masters and Skuse). Beginning of December ”, in ANIC . Both types were mounted, one of them designated here as lectotype ( ANIC 29-38486 About ANIC ), the other as paralectotype ( ANIC 29-38487 About ANIC ). The types have well preserved wings, shrivelled heads with most flagellomeres preserved and one surviving palpus, shrivelled legs with claws hidden among setae, damaged terminalia but particular characters recognisable. Wing 2.2 mm long, 0.8 mm wide, with R4+5 curved, joining C at wing apex; C broken at juncture with R4+5; Cu forked, reaching wing margin; Rs weaker at basal end, situated halfway between R1 and arculus; M3 fading close to wing margin, wingfold not visible; CuP present, fading close to Cu branching point; Sc reaching basal part of Rs. Head with small occipital protuberance; palpus 4-segmented, first segment shortest, last longest, second and third of equal length; flagellomeres 12, with two nodes, the proximal node bearing a single circumfilum, the distal with two, all with similar moderately long loops. Tarsal claws strongly curved between basal third and midlength, with large tooth on fore and midleg, a small tooth on hindleg, empodia shorter than claws. Terminalia: gonocoxite with large mediobasal lobe covered with long microtrichia; gonostylus long, gently tapered towards apical tooth, microtrichose at basal 1/5, carinate beyond; aedeagus longer than gonocoxites, narrow, tapering distally, strongly sclerotised except apically, with serrated longitudinal flange on both sides at 2/3 length; cercus elliptical, with two setae apically; hypoproct long, ovate, microtrichose dorsally, bare ventrally.

Remarks. The serrated plates on the aedeagus and the peculiarly-shaped hypoproct are unique characters that distinguish this species from all Cecidomyiidi known to us and should make this species recognizable when found again. We consider this an unplaced species of Cecidomyiidi.
