Two syntypes are deposited in NMPC (ex coll. V. Balthasar):

SYNTYPE (unsexed specimen): ‘Karibib / S. W.Afr. [p] // Typus [p, red label, black margin] // mařani / m. [hw, violet label, black margin]’.

SYNTYPE (unsexed specimen): ‘Okanjande / S. W. Afr. [p] // Typus [p, red label, black margin] // C. mařani / n. sp. / Typ! [hw]’.

Current status. Metacatharsius marani ( Balthasar, 1940) , see FERREIRA (1972), MONTREUIL (1998) and BRANCO (2011).
