Holotype, female, MLP 5391/1 [Holotype – Carvalhocapsus – scutellosum – (Carpintero & – Chérot, 2002)] [ Carvalhocapsus n.n. – pour Carvalhocoris – Carpintero & – Chérot, 2002 [nec – Carvalhocoris Leston , – 1953]] [S. A. Oeste – Rio Negro – Arg. II-15] [ Neomegacoelum scutelosum n.g. n.sp. det Carpintero].

Remarks. Chérot & Carpintero (2006) replaced Carvalhocoris preoccupied by Carvalhocapsus ; the valid name is Carvalocapsus scutellosum (Carpintero & Chérot) . In the original publication the type material listed is a female holotype from La Pampa, Río Colorado, I-1994, luz, Carpintero deposited in MLP and a male paratype from Rio Negro San Antonio Oeste II-1915 deposited in the Carpintero coleccion. The holotype has a vial of genitalia attached to the pin.
