Donnelly (2002) only states: ‘On a few ponds; not common.’ Presumably, he meant on St. Thomas. We found adults and nymphs of this species only at two sites: Dorothea turtle pond on St. Thomas, and an ornamental water garden on Water Island. Both sites are on hill tops, well above 700 metres asl, with dense surrounding tree cover. Known commonly as the ‘tawny pennant’ across some Caribbean islands, other surveys also note very localised distributions, even when abundant ( Meurgey et al. 2008; Catling and Kostiuk 2015; Trapero-Quintana et al. 2020).
