Comments: Species of Legnotomyia are very bare, have a characteristic broad, rounded abdomen with, in most instances, a banded pattern, and the sclerotisation of the first tergum is interrupted medially. The wing infuscation is sexually dimorphic, being more intense and restricted in area in males. Spermathecae narrow, tubular, with short ducts.
