Bombus (Cullumanobombus) crotchii Cresson, 1878 View in CoL

[ Lectotype: ANSP; ☿ California, USA; 1873]

Bombus crotchii is endemic to the CFP and is listed by IUCN as endangered with declining population sizes due to habitat loss and climate change (IUCN 2014). We reviewed historical specimens of this species vouchered at MABC, SDNHM, and CASC (Supplementary material 1). Additionally, the BBPT observed this species in the Coastal Sage Matorral in June 2018, 2020, and 2023. Based on information from historical samples and our observations, we expect this species is present in the Chaparral region as well. See fig. 84.
