Perinetia Barnard, 1959: 81 (Crustacea: Isopoda: Oniscidea : Philosciidae View in CoL ). Preoccupied by Perinetia Seyrig, 1952: 81 ( Insecta View in CoL : Hymenoptera View in CoL : Ichneumonoidea: Ichneumonidae View in CoL ). Type species: Perinetia reducta Barnard, 1959

Distribution: Madagascar.

Remarks: Barnard (1959) described the genus Perinetia with the type species Perinetia reducta Barnard, 1959 and it is still used as a valid generic name (e.g. Schotte et al. 2008; Schmalfuss 2003). Unfortunately, the name Perinetia Barnard, 1959 is invalid under the rule of homonymy, being a junior homonym of Perinetia Seyrig, 1952 . Under the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature ( ICZN 1999) it must be replaced.

Etymology: The genus is named after K. H. Barnard, the author of the preexisting Perinetia ; gender feminine.
