NOTES: The material used by Lister & G. Lister (1904: 129) to describe this species was “found by Mr. T. Petch on

Nov. 1, 1902, on the bark of an old prostrate stem of Populus canescens , about forty feet long, in Bush Wood, Epping

Forest”. They also comment that they found more the following week, and also in July, 1903, and in Walthamstow,

June, 1899. In BM we found 6 boxes (1969, 2248, 2250, 2251[3 boxes]) labeled as “ Type specimen”, and all “On fallen poplar, Avenues, Leytonstone [Epping Forest], Nov. 1.1902, XX: 90” [this notebook was missing], except BM

1969 which is from 23 July 1903, XXI: 54[46]. We designated here BM 2251 as the lectotype since all the data of this material coincide with the description and it is a representative collection in good condition. BM 2250 has samples from Nov. 5.02, July 23.03 and other later material in the same box. The first two samples we consider to be syntypes as they are mentioned in the original description. BM 1969 is from 23 July 1903, and 2248 looks like a fragment of 2251, but we can’t be sure and so these are also syntypes.

In K (http://apps.kew.org/herbtrack/results) there is material of this species [ K170347 England, 1902, Populus canescens, Lister ], that may be type material .
