Host and distribution.
Isolated from decaying leaves in Maryland, United States.
Notes.
The ex-type living culture is ATCC 14634 (United States, Maryland, Cumberland, 4 November 1962, Drechsler). It was reported to produce azygospores in Conidiobolus ( King 1977); therefore, we recognize it as the type species of the genus Azygosporus gen. nov.
