Canthocamptus crassus sp. nov. – Sars (1863a): 23 – 24, exact type locality is not known. Attheyella crassa Sars, 1863a – Sars (1911): 199 – 200.

Sars (1863 a, 1911; see Table 1 View Table 1 , Supplementary material 1, for archive item Ms. Fol. 1009: 613) found this species only on muddy bottoms of larger lakes. The first records were from lakes in Oslo (Sognsvann and Maridalsvann); it was later found in Lake Mjøsa (Oppland and Hedmark counties, Eastern Norway) and also in other lakes from the Southern part of the country.
