Trichomanes View in CoL L. subgenus Asiatrichomanes Ebihara & Dubuisson , subg. nov.
Terrestrial plants morphologically and genetically close to Trichomanes subgenus Davalliopsis (Bosch) Ebihara & K.Iwats. , but with one-cell-thick lamina bearing glandular-like hairs on the adaxial side and sori bearing a crown of hairs identical to those on the laminae, vs. three-cell-thick, hairless lamina and hairless sori for Davalliopsis .
Type:— Trichomanes superbum Backh.
The description and distribution of the subgenus are those of its single species, as developed here-after. The etymology refers to the tropical Asian distribution, unique within Trichomanes .
Except in Flora Malesiana ( Iwatsuki & Ebihara 2023), the previous descriptions of the species and its synonyms are generally partial and more like diagnoses. We provide here a new, complete morphological description in order to clarify certain characters, including meristic data, and that also complements the description of Flora Malesiana.
