Genus Apteroscirtus Karsch, 1891
The genus Apteroscirtus contains five species. A. denudatus Karsch and A. inalatus (Karsch) are distributed in Central to West Africa while the remaining three species, A. ruwenzoricus Rehn , A. cristatus Hemp and A. planidorsatus Hemp occur in Eastern Africa. Except for A. inalatus (Karsch) having tegmina covering part of the dorsal abdomen all other species of Apteroscirtus are apterous or have strongly reduced wings that are small to tiny elongate lobes situated laterally at the posterior margin of the pronotum.
