Apsilocera bicristata Mitroiu & van Achterberg, sp. n.
( Figs 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 , 13, 16 View FIGURES 13 – 18 , 20 View FIGURES 19 – 24 )
Type material. Holotype, ♀ (RMNH), “ INDONESIA: S Halmahera, 20 km S Payahe, Sagutora, Mal. trap 13, c 115 m, 18.ii–18.iii.1995, C. v. Achterberg, R. de Vries & Y. Yasir, RMNH’95”. Paratype (1 ♂, RMNH): same label data as holotype.
Diagnosis. Head slightly transverse in anterior view, with one discontinuous crest between anterior ocellus and posterior ones; clypeal margin rounded ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 19 – 24 ); each funicular segment with one row of sensilla; clava with only last two segments yellowish ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ); distal tooth of mandible blunt ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 19 – 24 ). Mesosoma dorsally arched; fore coxa mainly dark, mid and hind coxae pale yellow, the latter with a medium dark spot basally; fore wing hyaline ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Metasoma dorsally brown except small pale basal depression. Male antenna with one verticil of long setae on each funicular segment, F1 not shorter than F2 ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 13 – 18 ); male metasoma dorsally with large pale yellow spot occupying most of its length ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 13 – 18 ).
Description. Holotype, ♀, body length: 2.2 mm. Colour ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ): head black, with slight olive green metallic reflections; eyes reddish, ocelli whitish; scape reddish-yellow in distal half, pale yellow proximally; pedicel reddish-yellow, dorsally darker; flagellum brown except last two claval segments pale yellow; mandible reddishyellow, teeth reddish-brown. Mesosoma as head; wings hyaline; tegula and venation brown; fore coxa mainly dark, mid and hind coxae pale yellow, the latter with a medium dark spot basally; trochanters, proximal half of femora, and tibiae pale yellow; distal half of femora brown; tarsi yellow, tips brown. Metasoma dorsally brown; first tergite with a small yellowish depression at base; ventral and lateral sides of metasoma yellowish at base; ovipositor sheaths brown.
Head slightly transverse in anterior view, with one discontinuous crest between anterior ocellus and posterior ones; clypeal margin rounded; gena moderately receding towards mouth, not hollowed at mouth corner ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 19 – 24 ); temple absent; occiput slightly emarginate; each funicular segment with one row of dense sensilla ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ); mandible formula 4:4, mandible large, distal tooth blunt ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 19 – 24 ). Relative measurements—length: 25; width: 55; height: 46; POL: 11; OOL: 11; eye height: 24; eye length: 19; malar space: 12; mouth width: 25; distance between clypeal margin and toruli: 31; scape length: 26; pedicel length: 5.5; pedicel width: 3.5; pedicel plus flagellum: 62; F1 length: 7; F1 width: 4; F6 length: 6; F6 width: 4; clava length: 15; clava width: 4.
Mesosoma arched ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ); propodeum almost smooth, but with some longitudinal rugae; fore wing with basal cell bare, open below; basal vein with double row of hairs; ventral side of costal cell with one row of hairs, and a few additional hairs in distal part; speculum reaching proximal end of M; stigma elongated ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Relative measurements—length: 50; width: 40; height: 33; mesoscutum length: 19; scutellum length: 18; scutellum width: 20; propodeum length: 7; fore wing length: 113; fore wing width: 48; M: 27; S: 14; P: 28.

Male paratype, body length: 1.5 mm ( Figs 13, 16 View FIGURES 13 – 18 ). Similar to female, except antennae and metasoma.
Antenna longer and thinner, each F having one verticil of long setae in basal third, which is also darker than the distal part ( Figs 13, 16 View FIGURES 13 – 18 ). Head relative measurements—length: 18; width: 41; height: 34; POL: 8; OOL: 8; eye height: 17.5; eye length: 14; malar space: 8.5; mouth width: 19; distance between clypeal margin and toruli: 23; scape length: 20; pedicel length: 4.5; pedicel width: 2.5; pedicel plus flagellum: 56; F1 length: 6; F1 width: 2.5; F6 length: 5.5; F6 width: 2; clava length: 14; clava width: 2.5.

Distribution. Indonesia.
Hosts. Unknown.
Etymology. The name is derived from the Latin words “ bis ” (twice) and “ cristatus ” (crested), and refers to the two distinct crests present on the head.
Comments. Apsilocera bicristata belongs to a group of species having conspicuous crests on the vertex. It most closely resembles A. longicornis and A. obtusicristata . From both species it differs in having the last two claval segments pale yellow ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). In addition, from A. longicornis it differs mainly in having all F with only one row of sensilla ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ), and from A. obtusicristata mainly in having the distal tooth of the mandible blunt ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 19 – 24 ).
