Antitrogus mussoni ( Blackburn, 1892)

Rhopaea mussoni Blackburn, 1892: 112 .

Antitrogus mussoni: Britton 1978: 25 .

Rhodaea mussoni: Lea 1912 : xxxvi (in error).

Rhopaea dubitans Blackburn, 1911: 193 ; Britton 1978: 26 (synonymy).

Rhodaea dubitans: Lea 1912 : xxxvi (in error).

Lectotype of Rhopaea mussoni (here designated) male: aedeagus dissected out and mounted on card | Type H.T. (circular red ringed, typeset) | N.S.W. [New South Wales] (handwritten in red) | 4160 (handwritten in red) | Blackburn coll. 1910-236 (typeset) | Rhopaea mussoni, Blackb. T (handwritten) | Syntype (circular light-blue-ringed, typeset) | mussoni (handwritten) | my lectotype label; in NHML.

Paralectotype: Type H. T. (circular red ringed, typeset) | N.S.W. [New South Wales] (handwritten in red) | 4160 (handwritten in red) | Rhopaea mussoni, Blackb. T (handwritten) | Blackburn coll. 1910-236 (typeset) | Syntype (circular light-blue-ringed, typeset) | my paralectotype label; in NHML .

Blackburn (1892) did not define the type series, seeing an unknown number of males and females (vide Articles 73.1.2, 72.1.1) from “near Narrabri” [30.33°S, 149.77°E]. Lea (1912) noted that the ‘type’ had been sent to NHML, and Britton (1978) referred to a “ holotype ” male from near Narrabri in NHML and a female paratype in SAM. Houston & Weir (1992) listed a “ holotype (probable)” in NHML and a “ paralectotype ” in SAM and this was followed by Allsopp (1993a). As Britton (1978), Houston & Weir (1992), and Allsopp (1993a) provided no discussion and did not label any specimen in NHML, none of these mentions of a holotype constitutes a valid lectotype designation (vide Article 74.5). To stabilise nomenclature, I designate the male in NHML with its aedeagus dissected out the lectotype. The other syntype in NHML is a paralectotype. I did not find a paralectotype in SAM.

Lectotype of Rhopaea dubitans (here designated) male: aedeagus dissected out and mounted on card | Type H.T. (circular red ringed, typeset) | 5019 N.S.W. [New South Wales] (handwritten in red) T (handwritten) | Blackburn coll. 1910-236 (typeset) | RHOPAEA dubitans, Blackb. (handwritten) | my lectotype label; in NHML.

Blackburn (1911) did not define the type series, seeing an unknown number of males (vide Articles 73.1.2, 72.1.1). Lea (1912) noted that the ‘type’ had been sent to NHML, and Britton (1978) referred to a “ holotype ” male from New South Wales in NHML. Houston & Weir (1992) listed a “ holotype (probable)” in NHML, and this was followed by Allsopp (1993a).
