Current valid name: Pan troglodytes troglodytes (Blumenbach, 1775)
Holotype: ZMB 27047 (skin) und 27048 (skull), female, skull without mandibulae, skeleton; “aus dem Hinterlande südlich der Eliva N´komi” [backland of the Lagune Nkomi], Gabon; acquired in Fernand Vaz by Schneider, received from Museum Basel.
Comment: Matschie (1919) saw another male skull of the same species, collected by Buchholz on the lower Ogooue River. Buchholz gave this skull to the Greifswald Museum .
