ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 64.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Ins . Cypri [ Cyprus Island]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MZUN: Box Antracidei A 03,01): Anthrax cyprigna Rnd. , Cipro / M. Zool. N° 11148 .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Villa clarissima (Loew, 1857) View in CoL ( Zaitzev 1989: 164, Evenhuis & Greathead 1999: 492, 2015: 512).

REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 64) described Anthrax cyprigna from a single specimen, without specifying the sex: “ in specimine nostro [in our specimen]”, received from E. Truqui. Costa (1866: 37) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “833”. Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 492) reported the holotype in the MZUN.
