Figs 28–32 View FIGURES 28 – 32

Description. Male (holotype). Body length 3.8 mm. Head and pronotum dark reddish; elytra dark brown, with reddish-base and slight greenish reflection; legs and antennae dark reddish.

Head 1.2 times as long as wide, its base moderately produced medially, differentiated from short neck; tempora strongly narrowing posteriad, posterior angles absent. Eyes medium-sized, rather convex. Dorsal surface moderately glossy, distinctly punctate and largely corrugated, with indication of smooth, impunctate median strip posteriorly; punctures distinctly separated. Setation short, subdecumbent; few tactile setae. Antennae moderately enlarged in terminal third; antennomere X 1.5 times, XI 2.4 times as long as wide.

Pronotum 1.5 times as long as wide, distinctly narrower than head including eyes, evenly rounded anteriorly, strongly narrowed and moderately impressed (constricted) postero-laterally in dorsal view; pronotal disc nearly evenly convex in lateral view. Surface glossy; antero-lateral sides minutely and sparsely punctate, nearly impunctate near procoxal cavities; disc more distinctly and densely punctate, especially posteriorly, weakly transversely corrugated before smooth antebasal area; postero-lateral impressions longitudinally wrinkled, adjacent dorso-lateral surface rugose. Setation as on head.

Mesosternum with slight indication of median longitudinal bulge. Metasternum simple.

Elytra 1.6 times as long as wide, conjointly rounded apically; humeri distinct; postscutellar impression absent. Surface glossy, distinctly punctate; punctation double, setiferous punctures rather widely separated. Setation nearly evenly developed, sparser near base, generally longer and more raised than on head, decumbent; numerous tactile setae.

Metathoracic wings fully developed.

Fore legs modified ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 28 – 32 ); profemora with short tooth-like process, rounded apically, with short fringe of stiff setae subapically; protibiae nearly simple, moderately swollen, with slight carina-like protrusion on inner side distally; penultimate tarsomere widened/flattened distally, with terminal tarsomere articulated dorsally near base in all tarsi. Setation normally developed; tibiae with two terminal spurs, unequal in metatibiae (median spur longer and more robust); metatibiae with conspicuously long, stiff, fringed setae on inner side distally.

Abdominal sternum III with indication of paired, long, submedian, longitudinal carinae, and shallowly impressed medially (between slight carinae). Sternum VII with small median process on posterior margin ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 28 – 32 ). Tergum VII simple, widely rounded posteriorly. Sternite VIII ( Figs 30, 31 View FIGURES 28 – 32 ); paired prongs lobe-like, with short prominent carina dorsally. Tergite VIII with simple paired sclerites somewhat unevenly rounded apically, narrowly connected medially. Terminal sclerite of segment IX (spiculum) membranous, narrowed and setose apically, Aedeagus ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 28 – 32 ); apical portion of tegmen 0.5 times as long as basal-piece, trilobed apically.

Female. Externally differing from male as follows: fore legs and abdominal sterna III, VII simple; metatibiae shortly setose, metatibial spurs subequal; tergum VII subtriangular, nearly evenly rounded apically.

Variation. Body length (♂ ♀) 3.5–4.2 mm. Head and pronotum reddish to brownish-black.

Differential diagnosis. Anthelephila banhuaipo sp. nov. belongs to the A. fossicollis species-group. It is very close to the sympatric A. davita sp. nov. and A. fallax sp. nov. It differs from A. davita sp. nov. by the inner carina of the male protibiae being most prominent distally (distinct angulation rather near mid-length in A. davita sp. nov.), rather slight submedian carinae of male abdominal sternum III, by the rounded lateral lobes of male sternum VII, and by the detailed morphology and setation of the paired prongs (cf. Figs 30 View FIGURES 28 – 32 versus 48). It differs from A. fallax sp. nov. by the slight and shorter submedian carinae of male abdominal sternum III, by the shape of posterior margin of male sternum VII, and by the detailed morphology and setation of the paired prongs (cf. Figs 30, 31 View FIGURES 28 – 32 versus Figs 63, 64 View FIGURES 61 – 65 ).
