Anteon amabilis Xu, Olmi & He , New Species
Diagnosis of Male. The male of this Anteon species has the following diagnostic characters: the clypeus is testaceous; the frons is black with the anterior margin testaceous; the head is punctate, but without sculpture between the punctures; the POL shorter than the OOL; the notauli reach ~0.30X length of scutum; the posterior surface of the propodeum has two longitudinal keels and the median area is as rugose as the lateral areas; and the parameres lack papillae or a distal inner process.
Description of Male. Fully winged; length 2.0 mm. Head black with mandibles, clypeus and anterior margin of frons testaceous; antennae brown with proximal half of segment 1 testaceous; mesosoma black; petiole black; gaster brown; legs testaceous, with stalk of hind femora, posterior extremities of hind tibiae and part of hind tarsi darkened. Antennae filiform; antennal segments in following proportions: 10:5:8:10:9.5:10:9:9:8:10.5. Head shiny, punctate, without sculpture between punctures; frontal line incomplete, very fine, only present in front of anterior ocellus; POL = 7; OL = 4; OOL = 11; OPL = 5; TL = 7; greatest diameter of posterior ocelli = 4; occipital carina complete. Scutum and scutellum shiny, punctate, without sculpture between punctures. Notauli incomplete, reaching approximately 0.30 length of scutum. Metanotum dull, slightly rugose. Propodeum without strong transverse keel between dorsal and posterior surface, with dorsal surface reticulate rugose and posterior surface sculptured by two complete longitudinal keels; median area of posterior surface as rugose as lateral areas. Forewing hyaline without dark transverse bands; stigmal vein forming angle between distal and proximal part; distal part of stigmal vein shorter than proximal part (6.5:8). Parameres ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–2 ) without papillae and distal inner process. Tibial spur formula 1, 1, 2.
Female. Unknown.
Material Examined. Male holotype: P. R . China, Zhejiang Prov., Qingyuan, Baishanzu , 1856 m, 13 August 2003, Xiaoxia Yu coll., No. 20034760 (deposited in ZJUC) .
Etymology. From amabilis , a Latin adjective meaning pleasant.
Remarks. The male of this new species is similar to the male of A. insertum Olmi, 1990 . The main difference between these two species involves the coloration of the head, which is black with only the mandibles testaceous in A. insertum , but the mandibles, clypeus and anterior margin of the frons are testaceous in the new species. Also, the POL is longer than the OOL for A. insertum , but is shorter than the OOL for the new species. After the description of this new species, the key to the males of the Oriental Anteon published by Xu, He & Olmi (2000) can be modified by replacing couplet 43 as follows:
43 Notauli long, reaching approximately 0.60–0.80 length of scutum ........ javanum Olmi Notauli short, reaching approximately 0.30–0.40 length of scutum ..........................43’
43’ Head black only mandibles testaceous; head with POL longer than OOL ....................
.................................................................................................................. insertum Olmi Head black with mandibles, clypeus and anterior margin of the frons testaceous; head
with POL shorter than OOL ....................................................... Anteon amabilis n. sp.
