Bathymetric distribution: 0–128 m —SW.
Geographical distribution: Eastern Canada to Brazil —WGD.
Remarks: Smith (1885) refereed the occurrence of " Anomia ephippium, Linné , var." from Brazil (PE), but this record is probably based on specimens of A. simplex ; they are probably distinct species, the former being restricted to the Mediterranean Sea ( Huber 2010a).
