Bathymetric distribution: 0–5 m —SW.

Geographical distribution: USA (North Carolina) to Brazil —WGD.

Remarks: Specimens of this species from Brazil are frequently identified as being of Anomalocardia brasiliana ( Gmelin, 1791) (e.g., Rios 1970, 1975, 1985, 1994, 2009). Fischer–Piette & Vukadinovic (1977) considered this species as a synonym of A. flexuosa , a statement followed by the MolluscaBase (2023).
