Comments. Buenoa platycnemis has a wide distribution with great color variation, and is similar to B. pallipes . The rostral prong of each species originates laterally on the distal region of the third rostral segment and is distinctly longer than this segment ( Fig. 38, 43 View FIGURES 38 – 49. 38 – 39 ). The rostral prong of B. platycnemis protrudes anteriorly at basally; such a projection does not occur in B. pallipes . According to Truxal (1953), B. platycnemis differs from B. pallipes because of the larger frons, the pronotum shorter with its posterior margin more truncate medially, and a slight differences in the fore femur and rostral prong.
