Heterographis macedonica Schawerda, 1937 — Zeitschrift des Österreichischen Entomologen-Vereines, 22 (6): 56. TL: Ochrid [Ochrida], North Macedonia.
Type material examined. Holotype of macedonica ♂, “ Macedonia, Ochrida , 2.vi.1935, R. Wolfschläger ” | “Heterographis macedonica Schaw. Type” | “ Heterographis macedonica Schawerda, U. Roesler / Holotypus ” | “ U. Roesler, ♂, GU: 6519” | “LNK P 246” | “ Holotype ” ( SMNK).
Diagnosis. Ancylosis macedonica is moderately large (wingspan 32 mm) uniformly light-brown species with diffuse dark brown shade in mid width of forewing from base to about 1/3 length ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 27, 28 ). The individual variation of external characters of A. macedonica is insufficiently documented due to lack of material. However, brown suffusion in the middle of the forewing from base to 1/3 seems to be the only character for separating A. macedonica from other plain coloured light brown Ancylosis species ( A. anarchica Roesler, 1970 ; A. rufulella ( Hartig, 1936)) . The male genitalia of A. macedonica are characterised by straight to 3/4 length valva with distinct costa, long and narrow lobes of transtilla, short subrectangular sacculus and aedeagus broadened in the middle ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 27, 28 ). Ancylosis nubeculella ( Ragonot, 1887) has somewhat similar valva and sacculus but transtilla lobes are broader and shorter and the aedeagus is much longer. Ancylosis muliebris differs in apically pointed rather than truncate uncus, broader gnathos and valva narrower in distal portion.
Remarks. Heterographis macedonica was described from a single male collected in Ochrida (North Macedonia). The species was synonymized with A. muliebris (Meyrick, 1937) by Roesler (1973: 417). Our examination of the holotype justified A. macedonica as a separate species that differs both externally and in the genitalia from A. muliebris . Ancylosis macedonica may turn to be conspecific with another species of Ancylosis after additional material from its type locality including unknown female becomes available. However, we suggest it as a separate species for the time being: Ancylosis macedonica ( Schawerda, 1937) , spec. rev., stat. nov.
Distribution. North Macedonia ( Schawerda 1937).
