Amblypsilopus liratus sp. nov.

( Figs 3 View FIGURES 1–4. 1 , 12 View FIGURES 10–12 )

Diagnosis. Surstylus wide, bifurcated at basal third. Hypandrium invaginated at basal 1/8, third and middle in ventral view, ventral margin sinuous at basal half in lateral view ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 10–12 ).

Description. Male ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–4. 1 ). Body length 4.0 mm, wing length 4.5 mm. Head brightly metallic green with grey pollinosity. Hairs and bristles on head black except middle and lower postocular bristles including posteroventral hairs pale, with dense black bristles on lateral frons. Ocellar tubercle with 2 long strong oc and 2 posterior hairs. Antenna dark brown; postpedicel subtriangular, blunt at tip, nearly as long as wide; pedicel rounded with circlet of short weak blackish apical bristles except 1 dorsal and 1 ventral bristle relatively long and strong; arista-like stylus apical, black, nearly bare, 1.5 times as long as head, basal segment less than 0.1 times as long as apical segment. Proboscis yellow with pale hairs; palpus very small, yellow, with 2 short apical bristles. Thorax brightly metallic green with pale grey pollinosity. Hairs and bristles on thorax black; 5 dc, of which only posterior 2 very long; 3 biseriate long bristle-like acr; 2 sc, lateral pair short, median pair half as long as scutum. Legs mainly yellow, but fore coxa black basally, mid and hind coxae black with thick silvery pollinosity, tarsi black from apex of tarsomere I onward. Hairs and bristles on legs mainly black except bristles on coxae pale, ventral hairs and bristles on femur pale. Fore coxa with row of 6 short ventral bristles at dorsal quarter to apical quarter, 2 long preapical hairs; mid coxa with row of short ventral bristles at basal third to apical third, with 2 long preapical hairs and 1 preapical outer bristle close to venter. Fore femur with row of 10 short ventral hairs at basal 2/3; mid femur with 4 thin weak av-pv pairs at basal half, hind femur with 1 paired weak ad-pd at middle and 2 rows of irregular ventral hairs. Tibiae without distinct bristles except mid tibia with 2 short av each at apical quarter and 1/8 and 2 short apical bristles, hind tibia with 1 short inconspicuous pv at apical 1/16. Fore tarsomere V somewhat flat. Relative length ratio of tibiae and tarsomeres: LI 15.2: 15.2: 3.8: 2.5: 1.5: 1.0; LII 15.0: 15.0: 4.0: 3.0: 1.2: 1.0; LIII 24.0: 10.0: 6.3: 3.0: 1.5: 1.0. Wing hyaline, veins dark brown. Crossvein dm-cu straight, CuAx ratio 2.0. Lower calypter blackish with long pale hairs. Halter pale. Abdomen straight, pale metallic green with thin pale gray pollinosity. Hairs and bristles on abdomen black except segment I with 8 irregular long basal bristles. Hypopygium ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 10–12 ): Epandrium longer than wide in lateral view; epandrial lobe small, finger-like, with 1 weak apical bristle; surstylus wide, bifurcated at basal third, inner arm short, with 1 apical bristle, outer arm long and thin, bifurcated preapically, each branch with 1 apical bristle, of which on inner branch longer. Cercus pale, long, linear, 1.2 times longer than epandrium, with pale, long marginal bristles and 1 pale, extremely long apical bristle. Hypandrium invaginated at basal 1/8, third and middle in ventral view, ventral margin sinuous at basal half in lateral view. Phallus shorter than hypandrium, almost free, thin and straight at apical third.

Female. Unknown.

Type material. HOLOTYPE , ♂ labelled: China. Tibet: Lhasa, Academy of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Sciences, N 29°64′43″ E91°03′ 74″, 3650 m, 2014. VI.1–30, Malaise trap, Baohai Wang (CAU). PARATYPE: 1 ♂, same data as holotype ( CAU) .

Distribution. China (Tibet).

Remarks. The new species is somewhat similar to A. subabruptus Bickel & Wei from China, but may be separated from the latter by the specialized hypandrium. In A. subabruptus , the hypandrium is somewhat regular, swollen at base, with 1 long lateral arm which slightly bends inwards ( Bickel & Wei 1996; Yang et al. 2011, fig. 71). The specimens were collected near a swamp with abundant vegetation.

Etymology. The species is named after the shape of the hypandrium.
