Heterotypic synonym:— Aecidium lycopodis W.R. Gerard.

Type:— Holotype or lectotype has not been designated, but syntypes or related specimens have been deposited in MIN (1278845, 1278846).

Description:—See Hiratsuka et al. (1992).

Hosts and distribution in Japan:—0, I on Lycopus lucidus Turcz. ex Benth. (= L. lucidus var. genuinus Herd. ) (Hon), L. maackianus (Maxim. ex Herder) Makino (Hon), L. uniflorus Michx. (= L. virginicus var. parviflorus Mak. (Hok); II, III on Scirpus asiaticus Beetle (= S. wichurae var. borealis Ohwi ) (Hok), S. mitsukurianus Makino (Hon), S. sylvaticus var. maximowiczii Regel [= S. orientalis Ohwi , S. sylvaticus subsp. maximowiczii (Regel) T. Koyama ) (Hok, Hon), S. wichurai var. concolor Ohwi (Hok, Hon, Kyu, Ryu), Scleria terrestris (L.) Fassett var. terrestris (= S. doederleiniana Boeckeler ) (Ryu) ( Ito 1950, Hiratsuka 1960, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).

Notes:—Life cycle of this species was proved by Hiratsuka (1932) for the first time in Japan and confirmed by Ito (1934) and ( Hiratsuka et al. 1984). This species has been reported from Europe, Korea, China and Russian Far East ( Ito 1950, Hiratsuka 1963, Tai 1979, Azbukina 2005, Ono 2019), but its distribution in China needs to be re-examined ( Zhuang et al. 1998).
