(gures 1g, 2d, 3f, 4h)
Diagnosis. Fore wings elongate, narrow. Ground colour dark brown or reddish brown, wing markings clearly developed in most specimens. Male genitalia with valva narrowing near the apex, distal part aedeagus narrower than proximal part; tympanal organs with rami tympani curved, medially fused.
Description. Fore wings elongate and narrow; ground colour dark brown or reddish brown, wing marking well developed in most specimens. Interneural spots weakly marked on fore wing and part of hind wing. Externally this species closely resembles A. pontica but is usually smaller in size and has more elongated wings with a more rounded apex in the forewing.
Male genitalia. Uncus relatively long, gnathos membranous, medially widened and covered with minute spines; valva narrowing towards the rounded apex; aedeagus with minute spines on vesica and a plate-shaped cornutus; distal part of aedeagus more slender than apical part.
Female genitalia. Papillae anales weakly sclerotized; apophyses anteriores and apophyses posteriores long, of about equal length; ostium bursae membranous, funnel-shaped; proximal part of ductus bursae (before ductus seminalis) more sclerotized than distal part which is widened, short, and ends in the membranous corpus bursae.
Tympanal organs. Closely resembling A. avescens Hampson but the venulae secundae are relatively longer and the zona glabra tympani is usually better delimited.
Wing span. 22–25 mm.
Distribution. Nigeria, Congo ( DRC), Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Angola, Sudan, Malawi.
Life cycle. Unknown.
