Ecology. Uncommon on shallow sandy bottoms.

Distribution. Argentina, Bermuda, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, USA, Virgin Islands, Venezuela (Valdés et al. 2006; Rosenberg 2009; Miloslavich et al. 2010.
