Cerceris californica Cresson predation upon Acmaeodera maculifera Horn, 1894

More recently a specimen of Cerceris californica was collected carrying a specimen of Acmaeodera maculifera Horn back to its ground nest at: 5.5 miles E of Three Rivers, Otero County, New Mexico, IX­25­1999. This may be the first record of any species of Cerceris preying upon A. maculifera . The voucher specimens of both the Cerceris and Acmaeodera are in my collection (JJMD), both mounted on the same pin.
