Herbs 60–90 cm tall. Green smooth rhytidome. Branches erect, quadrangular, not winged, greenish, hollow; branche, leave, petiole, inflorescence, bracts, bracteoles, hypanthium and fruit with glandular persistent trichomes. Leaves opposite isophyllous; petiole channelled 9.4–14.2 mm long; leaf blades 6.8–9.4 × 2.3–4.4 cm, membranous, concolorous, symmetrical, lanceolate, base cordate, apex acuminate, margins serrate and ciliate, leaf veins 8, basal; ant domatia absent. Inflorescence a thyrse 8.6–17.8 × 4.6–5.6 cm, terminal; bracts 0.5–0.9 mm long, persistent; bracteoles 0.2–0.3 mm long, persistent. Flowers 4-merous, sessile; hypanthium ca. 3.5 mm long, campanulate, smooth; calyx simple, persistent; petals 8.1–8.4 × 3–6.6 mm, white, oblong, symmetrical, apex acuminate, base cuneate, margins not ciliate, glabrous; stamens 8, isomorphic, anthers 0.8–1.2 mm long, white, oblong, straight, apex acute, 1 apical pore, connective not prolonged, filament 2.2–2.9 mm long, glabrous; ovary ca. 2 mm long, half-inferior, placentation axillary, 2-locular, glabrous; style ca. 6.5 mm long, straight, glabrous. Capsule 4.3–4.5 × 3.1–3.3 mm, unripe fruit green, ripe fruit blackish; seeds numerous, ovoid.

Distribution and habitat: — Colombia, Guyana ( Freire-Fierro, 2002). In Brazil it occurs in Amazonian forests ( Rosa & Baumgratz, 2015). In the reserve it occurs in altered environments and trail edges.

Comments: —This species is frequently found in the reserve. It can be recognized by the greenish quadrangular branches and cordate leaf base.
