Acinopus giganteus Dejean, 1831: 813 View in CoL .
The specimen here recognized as holotype is a male bearing the labels: “ giganteus Kollar in Hispania mer. in Cadix D”, “ex-Museo Chaudoir” and “ Holotype of Acinopus giganteus Dejean, 1831 desig. by J. Serrano ” .
Acinopus giganteus is currently included in the subgenus Acinopus and differs from other related species in the lack of punctures in elytron intervals 5 and 7, the lack of ventral pubescence on male protarsomeres forming two rows, and its large body size.
It is solely known from Andalusia ( Serrano, 2020), south of River Guadalquivir. Keys to the species are found in Fuente (1927) and Puel (1934).
