Type locality. Andaman Sea , Thailand ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002) .
Record from Thailand. South-eastern Andaman Sea, next to Phuket Island ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002).
Habitat and depth range. Marine, depth: 38–43 m ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002) .
Distribution. This species is only known from South-eastern Andaman Sea, next to Phuket Island ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002).
Remarks. A. brucei is easily distinguished from other Acanthomysis species by the shape and armature of the telson, where the telson is armed with one spine on each side of the expanded basal part, longer spines arming lateral margin increasing conspicuously in length posteriorly, longest spine on lateral margin about twice as long as those on apical margin ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002).
