Pavićević, 1990:365 ( Aphaenopsis ), Type locality: Durmitor : pećina u Zupcima (Sedleni do, 1900–2000 m) . A. zupcense tartariensis Pavićević, 2001:35 (Aphaenops) , Type locality: Montenegro, Durmitor Mt. , Jama na Vjetrenim Brdima (”Pit on the Windy Hills”), 2196 m (entrance).
Material examined. A. zupcense zupcense: Two males, three females: Paratype male labelled: “ Crna Gora, Durmitor, Sedlenido, Peć. U Zupcima 1900–2000 m, 23.06.1989 Leg . D. Pavićević ” (white label, hw)/“ Paratypus Adriaphaenops zupcense n.sp. Pavićević, 1990 ” (red label, hw) ( CDP), one male and one female, labelled: “ Montenegro, Durmitor , Zupci env., Pećina u Zupcima, ca 2100 m, male 19.6.1998 – 29.6.2001 (prolonged traps), female individually, 16.8.2006, J. Lakota lgt.” (white labels, p) ( CJL), one female labelled: “ Pećina u Zupcima , Zupci ca 2100 m, Crna Gora, 26.VI. 1987, Popovic lgt.” (white labels, p) (CEQ), one female labelled: “ Durmitor Mt. , Zupci , Pećina u Zupcima , 2000m, 24.06.2013, leg. Marjan Komnenov (CDP).
A. zupcense tartariensis : Paratypes, three males labelled: “ Montenegro, Durmitor Mt. , Jama na Vjetrenim Brdima (“ Pit on the Windy Hills ”), 2196 m (entrance), 23-VI-1991, (leg. S.Ognjenović)” (white labels, hw) ( CDP).
Diagnosis. L: 3.5–5.1 mm, TL: 3.3–4.8 mm. Head large, elongate, distinctly longer than wide (index HL/HW 1.1–1.15), frontal furrows moderately impressed, reaching half of head length, with two pairs of long supraorbital setae; neck constriction distinct; genae subparallel. Clypeus and labrum with three pairs of setae, outer pairs longer. Antennae long (AL 3.1 mm). Pronotum short-elongate (index PL/PW 1.23), moderately wider than head, with maximum width in anterior quarter, basal part distinctly narrower than anterior, anterior angles small, acute, posterior angles protruding, acute. Elytra elongate, subovate, distinctly longer than wide (index EL/EW 1.72), with maximum width at middle; elytral surface covered with sparse, short and erect pubescence; striae absent. Site of stria 3 with three (two discal and one preapical) setae. Ssp. tartariensis differs from nominative form by its smaller size (3.5–4.2 mm), distinctly narrower elytra and more curved apical part of aedeagus.
Male genitalia ( Figs. 25 and 26 View FIGURES 23 – 30 ): aedeagus very long and slender, gradually narrowed towards apex, sagittal aileron narrow, endophallus armed with very slightly defined long and subspatulate copulatory piece, about twofifths as long as median lobe. Parameres long and slender, with two long setae at apex.

Distribution. Montenegro, Durmitor Mts., Pećina u Zupcima cave, Jama na Vjetrenim Brdima pit. Jama na Vjetrenim Brdima pit is the type locality for Tartariella durmitorensis durmitorensis Nonveiller & Pavićević, 1999 ( Cholevidae, Leptodirini ). Both localities are inhabited also by Anthroherpon zariquieyi Jeannel, 1930 and Blattodromus herculeanus Reitter, 1904 ( Cholevidae, Leptodirini ).
