Nomenclature.Misspelled as “ A. claparedei” by Matis & Tirjaková (1995), and thus unavailable according to the Articles 33.3 and 33.5 of the ICZN (1999).
Main morphological characters(according to Foissner et al.1995). Size 100–240 ×30–40 µm in vivo. Body ellipsoidal with a conspicuous concavity on left side. Two macronuclear nodules with a single micronucleus in between. Many irregularly scattered contractile vacuoles. No extrusomes. Somatic ciliary pattern Amphileptus-like; 15–18 right and about 5 left kineties.
Distribution. Amphileptus claparediiwas recorded in the littoral zone of the Danube River near the hydroelectric power structures in Gabčíkovo ( Matis & Tirjaková 1995); in an oligotrophic stream in the National Nature Reserve Rozsutec, Malá Fatra Mts ( Tirjaková 1997b); in the benthos of the Hron River and its tributary, Vyhniansky potok stream ( Tirjaková 1998); in the benthos and plankton of a hypertrophic shallow water reservoir near the town of Modra ( Tirjaková 2010).
