(2020)established  Episymploce maxima, but we transfer this species (Fig. 3) to  Symplocebased on the following reasons: 1) in morphology, body size large (Fig. 3A-D), T9 unspecialized, and no incrassate or crimping on the posterior margin of the subgenital plate (Fig. 3N); 2) in phylogenetic analysis,  Episymploce maximaLi, Liu, Qiu and Yue was placed as the sister of  Symploce sphaericawith a high support value (Fig. 1, supplementary material Fig. S1), forming a clade together with other  Symplocespecies.
