Neotype (Cardona & Sierra-Ràfols in Anales Jard. Bot. Madrid 37: 561. 1981): Willkomm, Herb. Balear. No. 329 ( COI) .

Current name: Rubia angustifolia L. ( Rubiaceae ).

Note: Cardona & Sierra-Ràfols typify the name in the sense of R. peregrina var. balearica Willk. , a taxon absent from Menorca. López González (in Anales Jard. Bot. Madrid 53: 133-135. 1995) therefore rejects their neotypification, arguing that the name must apply to R. peregrina var. (Poir.) Gren. López González does not propose a new neotype but appears to conclude that the name must now be regarded as ambiguous, and takes up R. balearica (Willk.) G. López for the Menorcan plant (syn.
